Double Doctoral Degree with Venice Application
Requirements
Applicants must meet the formal requirements and fulfill the regulations of both, Ca' Foscari University of Venice and Heidelberg University, including possible examinations.
Applicants for Heidelberg University as their primary institution should have proven contact with a potential supervisor. The supervisor must be a full member of the Faculty of Philosophy. The supervisor at Ca' Foscari University must be a full member of the Department of Asian and North African Studies.
Application documents
Applicants must submit the following documents as one single PDF:
- a letter of motivation that indicates one supervisor at Heidelberg University and Ca' Foscari University, respectively (see above);
- a proposal of their doctoral project with a working plan and bibliography;
- all university degree certificates and transcripts of records;
- a high school diploma/university entrance exam;
- a CV;
- proof of language skills (for English, plus - if applicable - other languages relevant for the proposed project);
- two letters of recommendation.
Applications must be submitted in English. University and language certificates may be submitted in English, German, French or Italian. Documents in other languages must be submitted as certified translations into English.
Submission, acceptance and enrolment
The deadline for applications at Heidelberg University is mid-May. Accepted candidates with Heidelberg University as their primary institution are eligible for an Erasmus fellowship of 6-12 months during their stay in Venice.
Ca' Foscari releases its call for applications in late February, and the deadline of application is early April. Accepted candidates with Ca' Foscari as their primary institution receive three-year scholarship.
Accepted candidates will have to undergo the full process for the acceptance as a doctoral candidate at both universities!
